Funny Puppies
Around 9 o'clock this morning, after being gently shaken awake by my daughter, I calmly emerged from my bedroom. The living room was filled with the soft, melodic sound of my husband playing his guitar. Ahh, such a relaxing atmosphere I remember thinking to myself and that was about the same moment that the dogs noticed.......MOMMY....!!!!! Immediately Torque, my oldest harlequin Great Dane, grabbed his orange squeaky toy which resembles a rounded chicken drumstick. In addition to the guitar music my ears were privy to the rhythmic sounds of Torque making a squeaky sound with every step he took. The Boxer would pounce on the toy, much like a hungry cat chasing and capturing a tasty mouse, just to watch the 120 pound Great Dane scramble on the laminate flooring; Molson, the 135 pound Great Dane, would try to run interference and suddenly we have a conglomeration of dogs growling, wrestling, squeaking. Torque comes away from the scuffle triumphantly with the squeaky toy safely hidden in his mouth. With the others temporarily off his back, both literally and figuratively, he moved the toy around in his mouth so the large part was sticking out his mouth. An unsuspecting 12 year girl became the target and Torque thrust the toy with the power of his head behind it right into her chest. Besides a gasp and exclaimations of surprise at his power, no harm was done. Moral of this story: Soft, sqeaky toys are optimal if your dog likes to 'share' them with you.
